I recently took my 15 year old nephew to the new Operation Spy exhibit at the International Spy Museum as a holiday treat. I found it very ordinary. and for $14 I would not recommend it. My nephew also left unimpressed. You had to take in alot of information quickly. and you also had to perform some "spy" tasks, but I did not feel that we personally had any real impact on the outcome. The instructions were confusing and unclear. The staff member did her best to keep the momentum going, but I found the experience overall pretty weak and it lacked the excitement and anticipation i was looking for. See the museum instead, but give Operation Spy a big miss.

Hello Annette, it’s good to hear that you had an interest in touring our new experience Operation Spy! It’s not nearly as good to hear that you didn’t enjoy the experience as much as we hoped you would! Operation Spy is a highly interactive experience and it involves a vast array of stimulation that is both cognitive and physical and there are cases when this does not appeal to our guests. I do apologize that you did not have the best experience possible with Operation Spy; we always hope that everyone has a positive experience! Although, it is great to hear that you enjoyed our permanent exhibit!

Because the rooms in this museum are a little small and personal, it’s easy to see that it could be uncomfortable on an overly crowded day. That was not the case for our visit today. This is a brilliantly designed museum, alternating interactive media and visual displays.

The historical span is enormous – from ancient Japan to September 11th – and it seemed to be highly interesting to visitors from ages of about 9 to 80 who were there at the same time we were.

As to the reviewers who’ve said that there’s nothing to be learned, they must be way more scholarly than I am; I’ve taught social studies for forty years and I learned a great deal!

It’s so great to hear that you enjoyed yourself at the Museum! It’s the best thing in the world to hear that someone really enjoyed their experience with us! It’s even better to hear that they’ve learned a thing or two about the art of espionage as well!

If you’re ever in the area again or plan to visit the Museum again you might be interested in seeing our new interactive exhibit called ‘Operation Spy’. It’s a highly interactive, immersive experience that takes on hour to go through; it basically encourages you to think, act and fell like a spy. ) So if you ever had any fantasies of being a spy this might be a exhibit you’d want to see!

Again, thank you for your feedback and I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed yourself!

Best,
